Last year, we launched our first ever Be Unique Challenge. The Be Unique Challenge is a chance for us to celebrate the difference-makers in our community by gifting a well-deserved nominee with a free exterior paint job. We realized that, most often, the difference-makers were the ones that were behind-the-scenes. The teachers, the nurses, the mentors, the first responders, the coaches … men and women working tirelessly to create a change in this community.
We wanted to take a moment to celebrate these difference-makers in the Kansas City Northland. We gathered sponsors and blasted social media with requests for nominees. The response was overwhelming. It was an incredibly meaningful and memorable process for everyone involved.
This year, we’ve set out to do the exact same thing. Not only do we love working with sponsors and gathering the community to do something big and special, we also love how this challenge gives us a chance to reflect on the people in our community that are living big, selfless lives.
It’s easy to move through life quickly, forgetting the simple act of gratitude and practice of outward thinking. Taking a moment to be aware of those around you that are making a difference flips the script on your mindset. Gratitude is a game-changer, we’ve found.So, please, take a moment. Look around.
