It’s time to focus on the inside! Now that the weather is getting colder we have a few more weekends to work on your inside project but it’s so exciting to begin focusing on indoor projects. We love being invited inside your home to help enhance your living space. Now is the time to look around and see what projects have been on your interior “to do” list this year.
It’s a perfect time to not only update paint color but create a completely different theme. Did you know that there have been many studies about the psychology of color in your home? From creating a beautiful environment to stimulating your child’s imagination there are a wide range of ideas to implement. Color can not only affect our mood, but our emotional state.
Shades of purple and violet can relax and stimulate us at the same time. Violet is relaxing, making it a good choice for use in a bedroom setting.
Cool blue, in every shade, is always a favorite. The color blue slows respiration and heartbeat, making you physically feel calmer. Walls painted a medium blue can make a small room appear larger because our eyes focus blue in the front of the retina.
Red is the most dynamic and energizing color of the spectrum. The warmest color can bring dynamic accents to any room. The intensity of red can be overwhelming: tone it down with shades of green and blue-green that are its opposite on the color wheel.
Green is the easiest color for the eye to see. It’s the best color to use in a study or library, helping you to read, relax and concentrate. The color is also connected with feelings of security and stability. Because it’s considered the color of home and hearth, it can help ease homesickness.
So before you start looking at that color wheel, you might want to take a few minutes to decide what you want each room’s purpose to be. Think about what mood you want to elicit when you enter each room. Bold colors for your children’s playroom to encourage curiosity and imagination. Serene colors for a relaxing environment creating a calming bedroom.
We’d love to help create your perfect home environment so that every day feels like a vacation in your home. Share your ideas with us and see where we can our design can take you.
Until Next Time!
