The Painter VS Rain: Who Will Win?
It’s been raining like crazy here in Kansas City and it is affecting the exterior painting schedule. But we tend to make the most of the situation, when you get lemons, call us and we’ll fix a batch of lemonade for you! While the rainy season gives new life to almost everything, it’s not the best agent for the beautiful walls of your home. First off, you have to understand that rain can become a disturbing aberration if you don’t employ proper means of coping with them. Often, due to the use of substandard quality paint on the exterior walls, water and moisture from the rain permeate to the concrete. This moisture keeps on accumulating and ultimately creates “damp patches” inside the wall. This accumulated moisture is the main cause of all your problems namely peeling of paint, ugly patches and blisters etc.
Secondly when it comes to painting; all days aren’t created equal. And don’t assume that just because a day is rain-free that it is a good day to paint. If the day is too hot or too windy, your paint may dry too quickly to enable it to form the most protective film. In fact, painting in the wrong conditions can even lead to premature flaking and peeling of the paint.
The good news for us is that we can apply latex paints just 30 minutes after it rains, assuming that the surface is not visibly wet. We’ve been hustling to keep our schedule tight and reach as many clients as possible. You’ll know that when it’s dry; we’ll be working.
As we’re creating beautiful exteriors, it’s also time to start talking interiors. It’s hot and wet now, but soon it’ll be fall and you’ll be inside a lot more. Start thinking about your inside spaces and what you’d like to have come fall. Check out our post on Budgeting for Your Makeover(link)!
Until Next time!
