This season is all about giving. It’s about giving time, giving gifts, and giving back.
This past year, we ran a few campaigns that gave back to the community. One was our Be Unique Challenge. The winner of that was Michael Wells, a firefighter battling esophageal cancer. Throughout working with the Wells family to repaint their home, we learned about an organization which helps first responders in need.
Michael Wells’s family was impacted by a foundation called Answering the Call. This foundation works to help first responders who are unable to work due to illness or injury. ATC simply writes a check to families in need, whether insurance hasn’t kicked in yet or won’t cover a necessary expense. As we learned more about this organization, we knew we had to do something.
It establishes the link between community support and first responders. These are the men and women that show up first when there is an accident, a natural disaster, or a terrorist attack. They run headfirst into danger in order to provide assistance and protect us.
And they get hurt. They get injured on the job. It affects them and their families tremendously.
We hope you spend this season baking all the cookies, making all the memories, and enjoying time with your loved ones. And even more than that, we hope you get a taste of what it feels like to give back. Once you begin, you’ll want to keep giving. It’s a good addiction, that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you serve and help others.
If you find yourself thinking about the beauty of this season and feel a nudge to give back, consider giving to Answering the Call.
Happy Holidays from all of us at Unique Painting. It’s been a privilege to be part of your lives this year.
