Whether you’re sitting next to a roaring fire welcoming an early snow or curled up under a fluffy blanket watching the Chiefs claim another Super Bowl, we hope you’re happy to be home.
There’s nothing like the onset of cool weather to silently urge us to sprinkle our lives with warm, rich hues. With the end of summer in the rearview, we’re sharing a few ideas to help you incorporate fall colors in your home.
Use Nature.
The beginning of fall makes it okay to bring things that generally stay outside, inside. Pumpkins, leaves, hay bales, wheat stalks, acorns, and apples are just a few ways you can use nature in your seasonal décor. These byproducts of the environment’s shift into hibernation can help refresh any decorative style and add a bit of fall color to your home.
PRO TIP: This might seem surprising, coming from us, but PAINT! Collect some of your fallen leaves, sticks, and acorns. Then, spray paint them. It’s a great way to add a splash of bold or gold to your fall color palette.
Use Texture.
The days are shorter and the beverages are warmer. Fall is cozy. Adding texture to your everyday décor is another way to incorporate fall colors in your home. Go ahead and buy another throw pillow or chunky knit blanket for your favorite chair. We won’t tell.
PRO TIP: Have you heard of arm knitting? These days you don’t have to be professional to make your own textured pieces for your home. Arm knitting uses large, chunky yarn to create blanket and pillows. It’s also a nice indoor activity for a chilly, rainy day.
Use Your Style.
No matter your decorating style, fall has a color palette for you. We want to make it easy on you so here are pieces based on color to help you mix and match.
Reds/Yellows/Oranges: Pumpkins, Flowers, Leaves, Plaids
Greens/Blues/Violets: Green and Blue Pumpkins, Mums, Berries, Eucalyptus Leaves
Neutrals: White Pumpkins, Hay Bales, Wheat Stalks, Burlap, Galvanized Steel, Aged and Natural Woods
Accents (Bold and Gold): Blankets, Throws, Painted Leaves, Sticks, and Pumpkins
PRO TIP: Level up your fall décor with candle or two! Not only are they a great way to add a pop of color or accent of metal, but the added scent will bring your bold new colors to life.
Spicing up your home with fall colors is a great way to refresh your space for the season. One of the things that makes it easier is a solid base palette on your walls and trim.
